What Are the Screen Size Limits for Eye-tracking?
Thursday March 14, 10:15 am - Main Stage

Size matters. While webcam studies are popular nowadays, their real efficacy could be linked to the particular problem to be solved. While package evaluation could be appropriate with such techniques, the validity of the conclusions from webcam studies on displays and shelf dispositions is highly questionable since the study with a more ecologic validity lead to a completely different conclusion.

In this talk, Fabio Babiloni, professor at the University of Rome, shows when you can choose webcam and when it's better not to choose a webcam to do package evaluation.

What the audience can learn

Nobody would like to plant a nail with a screwdriver and screwing a screw with a hammer. Thus, the issue to choose the appropriate tool for the analysis is important given the objective of the study. Here, we learn that for a study on the selection of a right display in a shelf the use of the online web study could be misleading when compared with other technologies (including virtual reality ones).
