Sounds Delicious: Connecting the Sensory Dots Between Hearing and Taste

Thursday March 30, 2017, 13:45

In 2016, Oxford came to Music City where Janice Wang (Oxford) and Steve Keller (iV) explored a new sonic frontier: how sound and music might influence our perceptions of the “spiciness” of a dish. In this presentation Steve Keller will explore their research, including its application to a variety of experiential initiatives subsequently designed for the food and beverage industries.

In addition, participants will discover the practical implications of how consumers’ sensory expectations of products and brands can be sonically manipulated - and the resulting impact those perceptions can have on product and brand evaluations.

Audience takeaways:

- A better understanding how sound and music might influence perceptions of spiciness of a dish
- The impact of sensory additions for product and brand considerations
